Wick has a lovely harbour that was refurbished and reopened in 2009
It has a very nice heritage centre near by (it is worth a visit,) a distillery which houses it own brand of Poultney whisky, (I must say very nice) there is an 18 hole golf course just 3 miles north of Wick, beside the golf course is the longest beach in
Scotland with beautiful golden sands, lovely picnic area and walks, you can view Sinclair castle and Ackergill tower, you can also fish from the beach (we don’t know if you need a permit)
Wick airport is just 2 miles from the house, there is a good taxi service,
Wick is a lovely place to have a relaxing holiday with lovely walks, places
to see and visit, castle Mey where the queen mother lived and is still used by prince Charles, you can take a boat trip to see the birds, seals, dolphins, and killer whales (that is an excellent trip), or go sea fishing, have a trip to dunnet head the most northerly point in Britain with lovely views, and don’t forget the famous john o‘Groats just a 20 min car drive from here or you can get a bus, take the ferry to Orkney for an excellent day trip, There are plenty of places to eat and drink, and the people of Wick are very friendly and helpful. |
