The House is a Victorian town house built around 1832 with a lovely spiral staircase and servant’s bells and a lot of the original features are still in the house.
We took over the house in August 2009 and have spent a lot of time upgrading it, but also trying to retain the character of the house.
All the rooms have the following facilities.
En -suite, tea/coffee/chocolate. Hairdryers, shower gel, soap, shampoo, and towels, free view TV/ d.v.d/ c, d, radio alarm clock, also internet access is free.
An iron, ironing board, is available on request.
There is secure parking for motor bikes at the back of the house,
For secure housing for cycles there is a garage at the back of the house.
Cars are able to park at the front door.
We are five minutes from the train station, and the town centre, the airport is two miles away with a good taxi service.
There is plenty of eating places all within a five minute or less walk distance.
Wick has a lovely harbour that was refurbished in 2009 where you can take a boat trip out in the North Sea to see the birds, seals, and if you are lucky whales, there is also a heritage centre that is well worth a visit. To tell you the history of wick,
Sinclair Castle is five miles away again well worth a visit,
There is an 18 hole golf course just three miles away beside the longest beach in Scotland and well worth a walk along.
Poultney Distillery is a must they have their own brand of whisky and voted the whiskey of the year 2011
There are some lovely walks in and around Wick. A swimming pool two play parks and tennis court, crazy golf, trampoline.
Mey Castle is just half an hour away the holiday home of the late Queen Mother and is still used by Prince Charles.
And of course not forgetting John O Groats where the Le Jog finishes, and for boat trips and the ferry for Orkney Islands.
We are just half an hour away from Gills bay again ferries for the Orkney Islands.
Dunnett Head is the most Northerly point in Britain and well worth a visit for the spectacular views.
We live in an area called Poultney town it was the first Industrial town designed by Thomas Telford.
There are plaques around the Town to show the Telford design.
